Chance of a number and chance of the whole combination: not the same question
It is more often that a particular number is included in a six-number draw than the entire six selected. They are the same “chance”, but the event is different. Before reading a percentage, ask whether inclusion of a number or a full-set match is counted.

Two events in the 6/42 model
| Question | Uniform-model calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Is a fixed number included? | 6/42 | 1/7, or 14.2857% |
| Does the entire fixed six-number set match? | 1/C(42,6) | 1 in 5,245,786 |
Why is 6/42 the first?
Six slots will be filled out of 42 possible numbers. Since every number is treated equally in this model, the inclusion probability of a fixed number is 6/42. It does not say which five others are included.
In full-set events, a particular six-number set is the target out of 5,245,786 valid sets. So 14.2857% cannot be used as jackpot probability. There are six-number game names in the PCSO archive; The article is a mathematical model, not an audit of the actual draw machinery.

The sample is not a new forecast
If you see a number appear in some old rows, that’s a historical observation. This does not increase the chance of a fixed full set in the next independent uniform event. Fairness and independence are assumptions of the model used here, not conclusions proven by a short archive sample.
Read the denominator on the chart
When there is a percentage, enter whether the base is number appearances, draws or full combinations. For example, “3 appearances in 10 observed draws” is a sample frequency; that’s not a 30% full-set probability. A small table with the exact event is clearer than a headline that simply says “the chance is high”.
